Pioneer Volleyball picked up another American Midwest Conference win this evening, with a four-set road victory over the Comets of Cottery College. The Pioneers now sit 7-0 in the AMC and 10-14 on the year.

Nevada, MO- The Pioneers earned their fifth road win of the year with the program's triumph over the Comets of Cottey College this evening after four sets of action. The Pioneers claimed set one with a five-point spread, thanks to a late set service stretch from Kyrsten Bake to keep the Comets out of reach. Set two, the Pioneers would be tested with their longest extra frame challenge of the season. Cottey College would go blow for blow with CRC until Brooklyn Cross lifted the game point advantage in favor of CRC, and then a Lady Comet attacking error gave the Pioneers the 30-28 set win. In set three, CRC would see their one set loss of the evening as the Comets manufactured their best offensive effort by outhitting the Pioneers 15 kills to 9, winning the set 25-21. In the contest's final set, once more the Pioneers and Comets would see extra frames to determine the winner, with the Lady Comets pulling out all the stops in order to avoid the home loss. Grueling for Cottey, the Comets would face the same outcome as a set two with the Pioneers coming out ahead in the extra frames. This time, the Pioneers ended the extra work on a faster note, with CRC defeating Cottey 26-24 with back-to-back kills from Jillian Glasgow and Amiyah Saxton

Junior middle blocker Brooklyn Cross helped pave the way for the big win with her season-high 16 kill performance in tonight's contest. Fellow junior Amiyah Saxton followed Cross with 10 kills for the Pioneers. Junior Jillian Glasgow led the team in assists with 23, with sophomore Maddie Burris also dishing out 15 assists in the contest. Junior Mallory Hollis led the defense with 25 digs, with sophomore Alyssa Dirden adding 12 digs, and Glasgow also totaling 12 digs to give the Paragould native the double-double.

Up Next: The Pioneers will stay on the road as they travel to Conway, AR, to take on CBC in another AMC matchup this Saturday, October 18th. #GOPIONEERS
