Owls Best Pioneers in Non-Conference Matchup- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 10/6/25

Columbus, MS- The Pioneers fell to 7-14 on the year after facing a non-conference matchup loss to NCAA DIII Mississippi University for Women. The Lady Owls defeated the Pioneers in three sets with scores of 22-25 MUW, 21-25 MUW, and 23-25 MUW. 

Tonight's contest would conclude with nearly identical box scores, despite the set score of three to nil in favor of the Owls. After dropping the opening frame 22-25, the Pioneers woke up offensively and matched the Owls' kill effort with both teams seeing 11 kills in the second set and 13 in the third. Woefully, the key separator and deciding factor in the outcome of the evening was the Owls' ability to ever so avoid a late frame mishap. Due to this action, MUW was able to barely scrape past the Pioneers each frame, giving route to their sweep victory. 

Brooklyn Cross led the team in kills with 8, Mallory Hollis led the team in digs with 10, and Jillian Glasgow led the team in assists with 17, followed by Maddie Burris with 13 in the loss.
