CRC volleyball falls twice in Nashville

NASHVILLE – Crowley's Ridge had its' win streak snapped at four games after suffering a pair of losses in the Music City. The Lady 'Neers first fell in their first Continental Athletic Conference match of the season to Florida College 3-0 (15-25, 25-27, 15-25) before dropping their second match of the day to hosting Fisk (Tenn.) University in straight sets 3-0 (13-25, 23-25, 15-25).


GAME ONE

Crowley's Ridge – 0

Florida College – 3

 

The Lady Pioneers (5-6, 0-1 CAC) fell victim to a heavy-handed Florida College (13-10, 2-0 CAC) attack which saw the Falcons hit no less than 20% in any set.

CRC rattled off six kills in the opening set before nearly doubling that total in the second with 11 kills. The Lady Pioneers were stymied at the service line, being held without a service ace for the first time all season.

Olivia Deckelman led the Lady 'Neer scoring with seven kills, while Emi Elms knocked down three solo blocks.


GAME TWO

Crowley's Ridge – 0

Fisk – 3

 

Crowley's Ridge (5-7, 0-1 CAC) produced a single kill in the first set against Fisk (6-16, 2-1 GCAC) who blasted 17 kills. The Lady Pioneers answered by keeping the second set close, ultimately falling despite a 14% attack mark.

The final strike against CRC came after a 10-kill effort fell short as the Bulldogs took the set and match with a 25-15 win.

Hannah Halverson was one kill shy of a double-double, tallying nine kills and 10 digs. Kaitlyn Perkins was solid on the back row with 22 digs.


UP NEXT

The Lady Pioneers will spend the week resting before the first major conference series of the season. CRC will travel to Mount Pleasant, Iowa to face five different CAC foes in two days.
