Volley Pioneers are Rolling
MIDWAY, KY - The Lady Pioneer Volleyball team traveled to Kentucky yesterday for a match-up against the Eagles of Midway University. Crowley's Ridge continued right where they left off last weekend with a 3-1 victory (25-13, 17-25, 28-26, 25-18)!
The first set yesterday started in back and forth fashion, but the Pioneers buckled down to score six points in a row late in the game to push for the 25-13 win. Midway battled back in the second set for the 25-17 win thanks to a better attack percentage and strong serving. Neither team wanted to give in during the third set, but Crowley's Ridge took advantage of three Eagle attack errors in a row to close out the game 28-26. The Pioneers rode that momentum through the fourth and final set to a 25-17 victory from an all-around team effort of accurate setting and strong attacks at the net.
Ashlyn Baldwin led the offense with a career high 10 kills, an impressive 0.476 attack percentage, while adding 14 digs and one block assist. She received ample help from Ashton Jordan, Olivia Deckelman, and Ashley Pyeatt who all added eight kills to the team total. Claire Johnson (18) and Bailey Tosh (16) did an efficient job of sharing the assist duties for the Pioneer offense.
Along with Baldwin, there were four other Lady Pioneers who recorded double-digit digs: Hannah Powell (15), Kaitlyn Perkins (14), Bailey Loge (13), and Claire Johnson (10).
Crowley's Ridge will next travel to Richmond, IN for the Earlham College Tournament. Here is the schedule for this weekend:
Friday - vs. Boyce College @ 4:00 PM; vs. University of Pikeville @ 6:00 PM
Saturday - vs. Earlham College @ 10:00 AM; vs. Wilmington College @ 12:00 PM
