Bio
Coach Brad Phillips enters his second season as head women’s basketball coach at Crowley's Ridge. Coach Phillips led the Lady Pioneers to the 2021 NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournament.
Coach Phillips comes from the University of Arkansas-Cossatot in DeQueen. He coached both the men’s and women’s basketball teams and led them to 25 wins in the second division of the NJCAA.
Before UA-Cossatot, Coach Phillips led Southeastern Baptist (Miss.) College to a berth in the National Christian College Athletics Association Invitational Tournament, finishing 16th in the nation in NCCAA D2 Power Rankings in the 2018-19 season.
Before SBC, Coach Phillips was the head women’s basketball coach at Morthland (Ill.) College and St Cloud (Minn.) Technical & Community College. He led the SCTCC Cyclones to an 18-9 school record and qualified for the Region 13 Tournament for the first time in school history. The Cyclones averaged 70 points per game in the MCAC South Conference.
Before his stint in Minnesota, Coach Phillips turned the East Georgia College women’s basketball program around from zero wins the year before he arrived to an overall record of 18-12 with only freshmen. The Lady Bobcats played an up-tempo style of basketball and averaged 74 points per game and was second in scoring in GCAA.
Before coaching at East Georgia, Coach Phillips served as the assistant women’s basketball coach at Colby (Kan.) Community College and served as head women’s basketball coach at Jacksonville (Texas ) College. Under the direction of Phillips, the Lady Jaguars posted what was then their second-best season in the history of the program.
Phillips has also experience coaching at the high school level and summer boy’s and girl’s programs. In 2012-13 Coach Phillips lead Southwest (Mo.) High School to a 24-4 overall record, claiming the Ozark Conference championship, the Rogersville Classic championship, the Blue Eye Invitational championship, and finished the season ranked in the top 10 of AAA schools. He was awarded Ozark Region 7 Coach of the Year. Coach Phillips has also been head boy’s basketball coach at Huttig High School and Cross County High School in Arkansas.
Coach Phillips started his coaching career in 1998-99 as a student assistant under Tim Gardner at Maynard High School where he helped lead the Tigers to a 33-7 school record and elite eight in the AA State Tournament.
As a player, Phillips played high school basketball at Maynard High School. He was a 2-time All-Conference and All-District player. Phillips played college basketball at Crowley’s Ridge, Brown Mackie (Kan.) Junior College and Ambassador (Texas) University.
Coach Phillips currently holds a bachelor’s degree from Williams Baptist (Ark.) College and a master’s degree from Emporia State (Kan.) University and attends Skaggs Church of Christ in Pocahontas.
