Crowley's Ridge Drops First Conference Game
LINCOLN, IL - The Lady Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College lost their first A.I.I. Conference game on the road against Lincoln Christian, 55-48.
The first three quarters were almost as evenly matched as possible on paper. Neither team ever ended a period leading by more than two points. After 30 minutes of play, CRC found themselves a head 40-39.
In the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, the score was tied three different times. During these first few minutes, Bug Johnson would sink two free throws and Chelsie Spence would knock down a jumper. Bug Johnson then converted a field goal of her own at the 7:18 minute mark. After that field goal, Crowley's Ridge would go cold and not score again until a bucket by Jaelyan Jones with 51 seconds remaining. In this dry spell, Lincoln Christian went on a 9-0 run to seal the victory.
Lincoln Christian was led in scoring by Katie Dial with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Crowley's Ridge was led by Emily Eaker with 12 points and four rebounds while Chelsie Spence added 11 points.
