Cougars Claim Two at Pioneer Park

Cougars Claim Two at Pioneer Park- Wil Tegaue, Sports Information Director, 3/20/26

Game One:

Crowley's Ridge- 0

Columbia College- 3

Paragould, AR- Pioneer Softball fell in both American Midwest Conference matchups this afternoon with an opening loss of three to nil to the Lady Cougars of Columbia College. CRC amassed 4 hits in the game, but would leave all four runners stranded on the base paths as a stout Cougar pitching performance denied any Pioneer run support. Aimee Buckley tossed all 7.0 innings, limiting the Cougars to 7 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), with 2 walks and 1 strikeout in the contest. Jada Diaz led the offense with a double; Buckley, Jordan Janak, and Carrie Anna Davis each added a single for the Pioneers.

Game Two:

Crowley's Ridge- 1

Columbia College- 11

Paragould, AR - Columbia College swiftly defeated the Pioneers in game two by a score of 11-1, collecting 17 base hits and exploiting 5 Pioneer fielding errors. Senior Lilly Wessel drove in the Pioneers' sole run of the matchup in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to center, scoring junior Jada Diaz. For a second contest in a row, the Cougars limited the Pioneers' offense, allowing just 3 hits, which Diaz, Wessel, and Maddie Burris claimed. Freshman Lauren Jones suffered the loss, going the distance for CRC, allowing 11 runs (5 earned) with a walk.

Up Next: The Pioneers will travel to Springfield, MO, to take on Mission University on March 27th for an AMC doubleheader. #GOPIONEERS
