WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The Crowley's Ridge College Lady Pioneers battled both a 22 mph northerly wind and the Williams Baptist (Ark.) University Lady Eagles on Tuesday. The hosting Lady Eagles prevailed in both contests, winning 9-1 in six innings in both game one and game two.

Game One (6 inn.)

Crowley's Ridge – 1

Williams Baptist – 9

Crowley's Ridge (7-18, 0-2 CAC) plated the first run of the game in the top of the opening inning when Dru Bryant's single to right field saw her advance to second via April Kennedy's sacrifice bunt. Rachel Russell's two-out single Allowed Bryant to wrap around and tap the dish to score the Lady Pioneers' lone run.

Williams Baptist (11-14, 0-0 AMC) would plate four runs in the bottom of the second inning before scoring one run in each of the next three innings. A two-run double from the hosts in the bottom of the sixth inning ended the game with the Lady Pioneers on the losing end of a 9-1 decision.

Shelby Elrod (4-9) struck out three batters while walking none in a 5 1/3 inning complete-game loss.

CRC saw four batters mark a tally in the hit column with Bryant and Russell being joined by Kennedy and Lacey Lambright-Southern.

Game Two (6 inn.)

Crowley's Ridge – 1

Williams Baptist – 9

In an eerily similar game two, Crowley's Ridge (7-19, 0-2 CAC) scored the first run of the game in the first inning but was then held scoreless before Williams Baptist (12-14, 0-0 AMC) scored in bunches in the late innings to claim victory.

Dru Bryant scored the run for the Lady 'Neers after drawing a walk before Kourtni Jagneaux laced a single into center-field to score Bryant.

Crowley's Ridge had plenty of opportunities to score in the second game, leaving the bases loaded twice and stranding a runner in scoring position in each of the first four innings.

In her first collegiate start, Abby Ewing (1-1) tossed three shutout innings before a three-run fourth inning placed the sophomore in line for the loss.

Crowley's Ridge had five batters collect hits in game two. In addition to Jagneaux's single, Bryant, April Kennedy, Lacey Lambright-Southern, and Layne Tedder rounded off the Pioneer offense.
