Cross Country Takes Fourth in AMC Championship Meet; Eagleman and Buckley Named Champions of Character- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 11/6/25
St. Louis, MO- Pioneer XC hit the course today in the American Midwest Conference Championship meet hosted at UHSP. At the conclusion of the 8K race, the Pioneers would find themselves in fourth overall as a squad.
As a team, the Pioneers finished with a 90-point score, right in front of WBU, which scored 101, and right behind HLGU, which finished with a team score of 84. Taking second in the meet was UHSP with a score of 75, and winning the AMC championship meet was the Cougars of Columbia College with a score of 15.
For the Pioneers, six runners hit the trail, and like all the previous meets this season, senior Trey Johnson would resume his place as the pack leader, crossing the finish line first for the Pioneers. The Jackson, MS native crossed the finish line with an official time of 33:09.80 to take 22nd place overall in his final collegiate race. Second for the team was sophomore Mark Eagleman, who crossed with an official time of 34:57.57 to finish two slots behind Johnson at 24th overall. Taking third for the team was freshman Owenn Marino with a time of 35:29.32, placing him also two slots behind his teammate Eagleman at 26th overall. Fourth-place finisher for CRC was first-time runner Elijah Ford. Ford would take 27th overall in his collegiate running debut, crossing with a time of 36:16.99. Placing fifth on the team and a few slots back from Ford was Dayton Skaggs, who took 31st overall with a time of 39:48.59. Lastly, rounding off the team was senior Nate Ferguson, who crossed with a time of 44:45.33 to take 36th place in his career finale race.
For All Conference Awards, sophomores Mark Eagleman of the Men's Program and Aimee Buckley of the Women's Program were recognized as Academic All-Conference as well as Champions of Character.
With the final whistle blown, this puts a cap on the 2025-26 Pioneer XC program season. Until next year, #GOPIONEERS.
