Pioneer Golf Sits in Sixth After Opening Round at "Battle at Big Creek"- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 4/1/24
After a week's break from their spring invitationals, Pioneer Golf spun the wheels westward to take place in Williams Baptist University's "Battle at Big Creek" in Mountain Home, AR. After the initial eighteen holes, CRC Men's Golf sits in sixth place as a team, being +18 over par.
Mountain Home, AR- Men's Golf had four Pioneers end the day sitting in the 70s after a full round of eighteen. At the end of day one, for the third invitational in a row, Freshman Denton Reiley leads the Pioneers sitting tenth overall being (+2) over par. Reiley's lead isn't much as senior Isaac Langley sits hot on his heels. After missing the last invitational due to illness, Langley picked up where he left off as the senior ended his first trip (+3) over par and currently sits in 13th place overall. Coming in third for CRC is senior Creston Sweet as the Brookland High School graduate is three strokes behind fellow senior Langley placing him 22nd overall and (+6) over par. Breathin' down Sweet's neck is sophomore Walker Hibbs who crossed the finish line in fourth position being one stoke behind Sweet at (+7) over par. With his day-one effort, Hibbs has earned himself tied for 25th overall. The fifth man on the team after day one is senior Matt Crabtree. The Bono, AR native sits (+17) over par and in 33rd place individually.
The Pioneers remain in the fight for a top-three finish at the invitational as CRC is only seven strokes behind third place.
Women's Golf:
Like Reiley for the Men's team, Maddie Minyard leads the Lady Pioneers for the third consecutive week as the sophomore sits (+19) over par and in 18th place overall. Shelby Razer follows Minyard sitting 28th overall being (+51) over par.
