Pioneer Golf Places 3rd In CAC Tournament- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 5-2-23

Crowley's Ridge College ended the 2023 CAC tournament today teeing off on their final 18 holes earlier this afternoon. The CRC Golf team stood tall over the 2 days on the green and held their position by ending the CAC tournament in third place overall. This marks the third year in a row that under the helm of Coach Adam Meeker the Pioneers have taken third place in the conference tournament.

San Antonio, TX- CRC Men's Golf had three Pioneers shoot in the 70s in their final 18 holes of the tournament but when the scores were added up freshman Joseph Ramsey led the Pioneers overall for the weekend. Ramsey ended day two of action with one birdie on hole 18 giving him a stroke score of 79. Ramsey ended the tournament in 14th place with 239 swings in all.

Andrew Lee again finished second for the Pioneers overall even though the senior claimed the team's lowest score on the day. What helped Lee's 77-stroke effort was his eagle on hole 8 along with producing a late birdie on hole 17. Lee wraps up his CRC career one stroke behind Ramsey and tied for 15th overall with 240 strokes in the 2023 CAC tournament.

Creston Sweet smoothed his way into his lowest round of golf of the weekend as the sophomore dropped into the 70s with a 78-stroke performance. Sweet tore up the front nine by landing 3 birdies on holes 1, 7, and 8 which projected him upwards on the leaderboard placing him tied for 17th overall as his final tournament total came to be 242 strokes.

Lastly, Bradie Gunther played caboose for the Pioneers as he trailed Sweet by 5 strokes on the weekend. Gunther did manage to see bright spots on the green as he birdied on holes 8 and then went back to back with birdies on holes 13 and 14 on day two but a late rough patch on the final 4 holes placed Gunther tied 19th overall with a stroke effort of 247.
