Spartans Survive Pioneers

PARAGOULD, AR - James McKelvin scored 19 second half points of his game high 26, to help lead the Spartans of Missouri Baptist to a 12 point road win over Crowley's Ridge College. McKelvion shot nine of 13 from the floor and two of five from behind the three point line on the night.

Missouri Baptist took an early lead in the game before a Braeden Williams basket with 13:48 in the first half gave CRC an early 11-10 lead. Bo Roberson added a pair of free throws with 11:55 in the first half to give CRC its largest lead 16-11. The lead would change two more times in the half and would be tied eight different times before the half. Missouri Baptist would take a 35-32 lead at the break.
McKelvion would take over the second half for MBU, scoring 19 of the teams 40 second half points.
CRC would take the lead back after another Bo Roberson basket gave the Pioneers a 40-39 lead with 16:13 to play in the game. MBU; however, would answer with a 6-0 run over the next 5:00 of play and then push their lead to as much as 10 points. CRC would cut it to seven points at 65-58 with 2:39 to play, but MBU converted from the free throw line down the stretch to pull out the 12 point win.
Bo Roberson led CRC with 14 points and seven rebounds. Randy Stanley added 11 points on the night.
CRC shot 24 of 64 from the field on the night for 37.5%. The Pioneers continued to struggle from the three point line going one for 10 from behind the arch. CRC shot 14 of 21 from the free throw line. The Pioneers led the rebounding battle 46 to 38 on the night but were forced into 16 turnovers. Those turnover led to 17 Spartan points.
There were eight ties in the game and six lead changes with CRC leading by as much as five points and MBU leading by as much as 14 late in the second half.
