Eagles Take Two from Pioneers in Conference Clash

Eagles Take Two from Pioneers in Conference Clash- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 4/10/26

Game One:(7-innings)

Crowley's Ridge- 2

Williams Baptist- 4

Walnut Ridge, AR- In the series opener, Crowley's Ridge would win the offensive battle, outhitting the Eagles ten to four, but would still fall victim to the Eagles with four Pioneer errors paving the way for WBU. Senoir Kolby Webb brought in the Pioneers' first run in the opening frame with a groundout to the pitcher, scoring junior Aiden Smith before the Eagles responded in the second with a pair of runs to reclaim the high ground. Sophomore Lawson DeVault evened the contest in the fourth the hard way, taking a bases-loaded HBP to score James Wilson and square things up at two-all. Wretchedly, WBU would expose Pioneer defensive juggles in the fifth inning to plate two final runs and hold off the Pioneers to claim the contest 4-2. Aiden Smith led the offense, going 3-4 and scoring a run. James Wilson was the other Pioneer with a multi-hit effort, going 2-3, also with a scored run. Freshman Brennon Burch suffered the loss, going 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) off 4 hits while striking out 3.

Game Two: (9-innings)

Crowley's Ridge- 2

Williams Baptist- 7

Walnut Ridge, AR- Crowley's Ridge struck early in the second contest, but couldn't hold off Williams Baptist, falling for the second time on the day to WBU in the American Midwest Conference showdown. CRC got on the board in the top of the second inning when Landen Kizer ripped an RBI single to bring home James Wilson, for the game's first run. Williams Baptist answered right back in the bottom half, but CRC wasted no time reclaiming momentum. In the third, Lawson DeVault delivered a clutch RBI double, scoring Aidem Smith, to give the Pioneers a 2-1 edge.

Behind a steady start from Brayden Mashek—who worked four solid innings and struck out four—Crowley's Ridge carried that lead into the middle innings until the game turned in the fifth, when Williams Baptist used timely swings to seize control and shift the momentum for good. WBU broke things open with three runs in the fifth and added three more in the sixth to pull away from the Pioneers, while the Eagles' bullpen shut down any chance of a Crowley's Ridge comeback. CRC finished with seven hits, led by junior Aiden Smith, who went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Up Next: The Pioneers will wrap up the conference series against WBU with a final 9-inning contest starting tomorrow at 12:00 PM. #GOPIONEERS
