Pioneers Fall to Scots at Pioneer Park- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 3/31/26
Crowley's Ridge fell in both non-conference contests against Lyon College this afternoon at Pioneer Park, falling 13-4 in game one and 24-14 in game two.
Game One:
Crowley's Ridge- 4
Lyon College- 13
Paragould, AR – Lyon College pulled away from Crowley's Ridge College with an eight-run surge in the top of the seventh inning, securing the opening game of the doubleheader. The Pioneers entered the seventh trailing 5–4, but the Scots' late-inning offensive explosion put the contest out of reach. CRC's offense featured back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning, with sophomore Ricky Requena blasting a two-run shot in a pinch-hit appearance, followed by a solo homer from junior Aiden Smith. However, despite the extra base hits, CRC would still become a victim of the Scots. Crowley's Ridge was held to six hits on the day, while Lyon tallied 12. Defensively, CRC turned four double plays in the matchup.
Game Two:
Crowley's Ridge- 14
Lyon College- 24
Paragould, AR – In the day's second contest, the Crowley's Ridge College Pioneers collected 14 hits but couldn't keep pace with Lyon College, as the visiting Scots pulled away with another late-inning surge. Lyon got off to a fast start, scoring nine runs over the first two innings. CRC fought back with runs in the first, second, and third innings, keeping the game close. The Pioneers' offense came alive in the fourth inning, as senior Kolby Webb launched a solo home run, followed by a clutch three-run blast from freshman Crafton Beeler that gave CRC a brief 10–9 lead. Lyon responded immediately with a twelve-run top of the fifth inning, taking control and putting the game out of reach. Sophomore Ricky Requena delivered once again off the bench with his second pinch-hit home run of the day, this time with a bases-juiced blast in the sixth as a last-ditch effort to spark the Pioneer offense, but the flame wouldn't be ignited as Lyon held onto their lead.
Aiden Smith led the offense in hits, going 3-5 and scoring a run. Ricky Requena and Crafton Beeler led in RBI, driving in four apiece.
