Pioneers Fall to UHSP on the Road- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 3/28/26
Game Two: (7-innings)
Crowley's Ridge- 4
UHSP- 14
St. Louis, MO- Like a bad case of deja vu, Pioneer Baseball would fall for a second time to the Eutectics of USHP by a score of 14-4 in game two of the series. In the matchup, the Pioneers would swap leads with the Eutectics twice during the 7-innings. Senior Kolby Webb made the opening move for the Pioneers at the top of the third, with his 2 RBI single to score Aiden Smith and Lawson DeVault before Junior JP Wills tacked on one more with a RBI double, scoring Webb and making it 3-1 in favor of CRC. UHSP wasted little time, squaring things up at three in the bottom of the fourth with a 2-run homer before Sophomore Ricky Requena responded with a RBI single the next frame to score DeVault. Woefully, UHSP would halt the Pioneers' offensive production while, in turn, exploding the game through back-to-back offensive surges with 11 runs over the next two frames to run away with the contest. CRC totaled 9 hits in the matchup, and was led by Lawson DeVault, who was 2-4 with 2 runs scored, and Ricky Requea, who was 2-3 with an RBI. Kolby Webb led the team in RBI with his 1-3 2 RBI effort. Brayden Mashek took the loss, surrendering 6 runs (4 earned) off 6 hits in 4.0 innings.
Game Three: (7-innings)
Crowley's Ridge-6
UHSP- 19
St. Louis, MO- Crowley's Ridge suffered their toughest defeat in the series finale with a run-rule loss, falling to UHSP 19-6. After allowing UHSP to take a 3-0 lead with runs in the first and second innings, sophomore Lawson DeVault pumped life back into the Pioneers with a game-tying 3-run shot in the top of the third. Unfortunately for CRC, the Eutectics would answer with a plague of 12 runs in the third and fourth innings before the Pioneers would see another run reach the plate. Junior JP Wills broke the run drought in the top of the fifth with his 9th homer of the season, driving in Reece Bariola in the two-run shot, cutting the deficit to ten, but UHSP would clap back with a final four runs in the bottom half to increase their lead even steeper than before. Aiden Smith crossed the plate for the final Pioneer run at the top of the seventh, scoring on a wild pitch. CRC mustered 7 hits in the loss. Wills and Smith each collected two hits, with the pair going 2-4.
Up Next: CRC Baseball will host Lyon College on Tuesday, March 31st, in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 12:00 PM. #GOPIONEERS
