Holly Springs, MS- Pioneer Baseball headed to Holly Springs, MS to take on Rust College this weekend for a non-conference three-game series, and opened the series in big fashion, controlling the contest with a huge 20-6 blowout win over the Bearcats. In the big win, Junior JP Wills tied Bobby Wright's (2018-2021) single-season home run record (6) with his long ball blast in the seventh inning, which capped his 3-4 (HR,2B, 5RBI) day at the plate. Fellow teammates, sophomores Reece Bariola (2-5)(HR 3RBIs) and Lawson DeVault (4-5)(HR 4RBIs), also connected on pitches with Bariola sending his 4th homer over the fence and DeVault sending his 2nd out of the yard on the season. Juniors Aiden Smith and Rilyn Coleman also had standout performances, with Smith matching DeVault's team-high hits effort, also going 4-5, and Coleman going 2-4 with a double and 3RBIs. Seniors Kolby Webb and James Wilson were the final two Pioneers with a multi-hit game as Webb was 2-5 with 2RBIs and Wilson was 2-5 while scoring twice himself. Brayden Mashek earned his third win of the year, tossing 6.0 innings, allowing 4 runs off 11 hits while walking 1 and fanning 4.
Up Next: The Pioneers will wrap up the series against RC with a doubleheader starting tomorrow at 11:00 AM. #GOPIONEERS
