Beal is an Advance, MO native and a graduate of Advance High School, where he was a four-year baseball letterman for the Hornets. After High School, Beal joined the Pioneer Baseball team, where he was a 5-year starting catcher for the 2019-2023 seasons. In his career, Beal was a pillar for the Pioneers, joining the program's record book in several categories, including being tied for third in all-time RBIs with 86, fifth in walks with 69, third in total games played with 148, and second on the home run list with 9. During his span as a player, Beal played a crucial role on the two teams that broke the program's wins record on two separate occasions. One of Beal's most memorable moments at CRC was the 2021 season when the Pioneers qualified for postseason, competing in the Continental Athletic Conference tournament for the first time in NAIA program history.

Beal graduated from CRC in May 2023 with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and secured a job at Kelly School District in Benton, MO. While at Kelly, Beal served as the Head Baseball Coach for the Junior High, helping lead them to a 12-4 record, before moving to Zalma High School in 2024, where Beal wore three hats: Head Baseball, Basketball, and Cross Country Coach this past school year.

Phoenix and his high school sweetheart, Kaitlyn Beal, attended CRC together and tied the knot in November of 2022. In April of 2024, they welcomed their daughter, Maeva Beal, into the world. In May, Beal will complete his Master's in Teaching and Learning from Hannibal-LaGrange University.
