Lawrenceville, GA- The Pioneers entered yesterday's contest 1-1 so far in the CAC Showdown in Lawrenceville, GA as they chopped Friday's contest between Voorhees University and Georgia Gwinnett College. Though the Pioneers did fall to Florida National, they didn't go without a fight as they musted a huge 7th-inning rally, scoring all 8 of their runs. Florida National on the other hand scored in the first five innings of the contest jumping ahead to a 13-0 lead. The Pioneer Pitching staff was finally able to hold off the Conquistador offense in the 6th and 7th giving themselves a chance to catch back up. The Pioneers finally caught a break and took advantage of a struggling Florida National pitching staff in the top half of the 7th as Eli Milam drew the walk with the bases loaded getting the first Pioneer to the plate. Next, Trey Gossett capitalized on a throwing error allowing him to reach first and also allowing the second Pioneer run to score. CRC's next four runs came from James Wilson drawing a walk and then three wild pitches from Florida National. Benton Lashley claimed the final hit of the game as he singled to the left side of the field knocking in Cannon Baker and capping the 8-run rally. Florida National gained control and collected the final out of the game defeating CRC 13-8.
