DALLAS – With the Arkansas wet winter affecting the Pioneers, a home series moved to an away series between Crowley's Ridge and Dallas Christian College. The Pioneers were on the losing ends of both Friday games, first losing 9-4, before being shut out 6-0 in game two.
Game One
Crowley's Ridge – 4
Dallas Christian – 9
Crowley's Ridge (7-12, 0-0 CAC) fell behind early, with the hosting Crusaders plating three runs in the home half of the third. Fielding miscues continue to plague the men in green with all three first-inning runs being unearned.
Bobby Wright continued to be the guiding hand as the Pioneer leadoff man, driving in a pair of runs in the top of the second inning with a two-out double to score both Jackson Imler and Chipper Lamb, who reached on singles each.
Dallas Christian (8-17) answered in the home half of the second inning when a leadoff walk turned into a run after an RBI single.
In his first career start, John Grace, Jr. drove in a couple of runs in the top of the third inning by blasting a two-bagger into centerfield. Austin Gross, who reached on an error, and Zorey Chipman - reaching base due to catcher's interference came in to tie the game 4-4.
The Pioneer bats were then shut down by the Crusaders, who continued to pour in runs, putting up runs in five out of six innings at the dish. Jack Roney (3-1) picked up his first loss of the season, punching out five DCC batsmen.
Kole Simms was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits, collecting two to add to Grace, Jr. and Wright's doubles as the four Pioneer hits.
Game Two
Crowley's Ridge – 0
Dallas Christian – 6
The Pioneers (7-13, 0-0 CAC) were unable to score a run in the second game of the day, despite leaving eight runners stranded on the bases.
Zorey Chipman (0-3) got the start for the Pioneers and, despite giving up four early walks, righted the ship to strike out three Dallas Christian (9-17) batters.
DCC plated a trio of runs in both the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to pick up their second victory of the series.
Andrew Brown led the Pioneers by going 2-2 from the plate while drawing a walk, with Kole Simms' seventh-inning single being the only other Crowley's Ridge hit.
