PARAGOULD, Ark. – Crowley's Ridge College hosted the Williams Baptist (Ark.) University Eagles in a Tuesday doubleheader. Both teams picked up a win with WBU earning the victory in game one 6-1 before CRC ended with an 11-6 victory.

GAME ONE

Williams Baptist – 6

Crowley's Ridge – 1

A leadoff single followed by a two-run home run from Trent Pobst opened game one for Williams Baptist (13-24) which deflated the Crowley's Ridge (19-24) bats before the Pioneers were able to step to the dish.

Nate Finney (SR/Oran, Mo.) led off the home half of the first inning with a single, eventually finding himself on third base before the Pioneers were retired with two runners left on base.

After WBU added an insurance run in the top of the third inning, CRC started the bottom of the third inning with Noah Overshine (JR/Jonesboro, Ark.) trading a bruise for a base after being hit by a pitch. Trey Gossett (SO/Piggott, Ark.)'s deep single pushed Overshine to third base; however, Gossett was thrown out trying to advance to second. Bobby Wright (JR/Sikeston, Mo.)'s sacrifice fly allowed the lone CRC run to score, as CRC trailed 3-1.

Crowley's Ridge and Williams Baptist both left the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth and top of the fifth innings before the Eagles plated their final run in the top of the sixth inning to win 6-1.

Jackson Imler (FR/Manila, Ark.) collected half of Crowley's Ridge's hits going 3-for-3 from the plate.

GAME TWO

Williams Baptist – 6

Crowley's Ridge – 11

Crowley's Ridge (20-24) used a six-run fourth inning to bounce back and win game two. The Pioneers began their day at the plate the same way Williams Baptist (13-25) did in game one, with Bobby Wright hitting a two-run home run, his fifth of the season, to jump ahead 2-0.

The Pioneers added another pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning when Brady Becerra (SO/Paragould, Ark.)'s leadoff single turned into a run thanks to Nate Finney's sacrifice fly. Zach Duty (SR/Paragould, Ark.) wrapped around to score on a wild pitch after reaching base on a beanball to push the Pioneer lead to 4-0.

WBU continued to fight, picking up a run in the third inning before a two-run single and sac fly tied things up at 4-4 moving to the bottom of the fourth inning.

Phoenix Beal (JR/Advance, Mo.) led off the inning with a walk, before his courtesy runner, Garett Wilson (SO/Palestine, Ark.), scored from second base on Noah Overshine's single. With Overshine and Trey Gossett on base, Wright unloaded for the second time with a three-run bomb to left field. Wright's sixth home run on the season ties his own single-season record from the 2019 campaign. Batting around in the inning, Beal's two-run single pushed the Pioneers to a 10-4 lead.

After the Eagles added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning, the scoring ceased when Beal's RBI single allowed Becerra to score the final run on an 11-6 victory for Crowley's Ridge.

Wright's two home runs tallied five runs batted in, with Beal following with three. Corbett Seib (JR/Poplar Bluff, Mo.) led the hitting with three hits, trailed by Beal, Overshine, and Wright collecting two hits each.

Zorey Chipman (JR/Wilson, Ark.) picked up his second win of the season in relief.
