Paragould, AR – Crowley's Ridge College Volleyball inked two more members for the 2026- 27 season, signing Alyssa Russell and Jacey Varnell to the Pioneer program.

Russell, a native of Piggott, Arkansas, brings a strong athletic background and collegiate experience to the Pioneers. After a successful high school career at Piggott High School, where she played under Coach Carol Brotman, Russell continued her athletic journey at Williams Baptist University, competing in both indoor and outdoor track and field and spending a season with the volleyball program. In her collegiate career, Russell continued to grow and improve in both athletic fields.

"We are excited to welcome Alyssa to our program," said Head Coach Carol Brotman. "Having coached her in high school, I know firsthand the type of competitor and person she is. She is extremely athletic, works hard, and brings a passion for volleyball that will be a great addition to our team."

Known for her competitiveness, athleticism, and determination, Russell adds valuable depth and experience to the Pioneer roster. Her background as a multi-sport collegiate athlete is expected to make an immediate impact both on the court and within the team's culture.

Varnell, a native of Guy, Arkansas,  comes to Crowley's Ridge following a standout career at Guy-Perkins High School. She will enter the program as a true freshman after helping lead the Thunderbirds to a historic season that culminated in the program's first-ever appearance in the state tournament.

Despite the Guy-Perkins Volleyball program being only four years old, the Guy-Perkins program has made tremendous strides, and Varnell played a key role in its continued growth and success. Throughout her high school career, she established herself as a dedicated and versatile athlete known for her determination and commitment to improvement.

"Jacey is the type of student-athlete every coach wants in their program. She is athletic, coachable, and has a genuine passion to excel. Her work ethic sets her apart, and I believe it will take her far both on and off the court. We are excited to watch her continue to develop as a Pioneer." - Head Coach Carol Brotman

Like her new teammate Russell, Varnell's athleticism, willingness to learn, and competitive drive make her an exciting addition to the Pioneer roster. As she begins her collegiate career, Brotman and her newly added assistant, Saraya Reddick, are confident she has the tools and mindset necessary to make a positive impact on the program.

Welcome to the Ridge, Jacey and Alyssa! #GOPIONEERS
